Soccer takes first road loss of the season

After making program history in Baton Rouge against LSU on Thursday night, Auburn traveled to College Station, Texas, on a seven game winning streak. The Tigers (12-5-0, 8-2-0) took a 25-9 shot advantage over Texas A&M on Sunday, but fell short against the Aggies in a 2-1 loss.

“I thought our team battled and played hard,” Auburn head coach Karen Hoppa said. “We clearly had more of the ball and more chances, but we just didn’t execute in the final third. We made a couple defensive mistakes to give [the Aggies] set pieces, but at the end of the day we’ve got to execute better in the final third and we’ll work on that heading into Thursday’s game.”

A&M found the net first in the 54th minute. Auburn's Brooke Ramsier responded on a free kick 20 yards out, her fourth goal of this season.

Bri Folds had a career-best seven shot attempts and keeper Sarah Le Beau had two saves for the Tigers, but a penalty kick from the Aggies in the 84th minute would be the last score of the night.

The loss was Auburn's first on the road this season. The Tigers will return home Thursday to face Tennessee for Senior Night at the Auburn Soccer Complex, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. CST.
