Mayor's Memorial Day Breakfast to be held in honor of US military

The 20th Annual Mayor's Memorial Day Breakfast will be held on Monday, May 28, at the Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center.

Mayor Bill Ham and the Auburn Veterans Committee are inviting the community in honor of those who have served in the US military. The event will begin at 8 a.m.

Retired Lt. Col. Fred Lacy will be the guest of honor and the recipient of the 2018 Distinguished Veteran Award.

The Auburn University ROTC will present the colors and Lisa Tabor will perform the National Anthem.

The Auburn Heroes Remembered Award will be presented to the family of a local distinguished veteran who has passed away. The award will be presented to former Auburn police captain, Frank deGraffenried, father of former Auburn police chief, Buddy deGraffenried.

As formerly performed in the past, the memorial wreath-laying will begin at 10 a.m. at the Auburn Veterans Memorial Monument. Attendees should park at the Douglas Watson Municipal Complex and Felton Little Park.

Tickets are $25 a person or $250 for a table of 10 and can be purchased at City Hall. Ticket proceeds will go to the Auburn Veterans Memorial Fund.
