State Legislature Candidates to participate in forum

Voters wanting to here from candidates in local races will get their chance at Monday, Oct. 20.
A forum featuring candidates for the Alabama Legislature will be hosted by the League of Women Voters of East Alabama and Opelika-Auburn News at the Auburn City Council chambers at 141 N. Ross St. at 6 p.m., according the League's website.
Speaker Mike Hubbard, Republican, and Dr. Shirley Scott-Harris, Democrat, are running against each other in House District 79, which contains Auburn, are both participating in the forum.
Sen. Tom Whatley, Republican, will also be participating. Whatley is the incumbent senator for Senate District 27, which contains Auburn.
Dr. Jennifer Adams, director of the School of Communication and Journalism at Auburn University, will be moderating the event.
Audience members at the event will be allowed to submit questions to the candidates.
