An Auburn High School student was arrested and charged with first degree rape and sexual abuse on Tuesday, Nov. 18.
According to a press release issued by the Auburn Police Division, school officials notified police of a sexual assault at approximately 2 p.m., Nov. 18.
A juvenile female student reported being sexually assaulted by another 16-year-old student.
Police took the 16-year-old student into custody and are charging the student as an adult.
Capt. Lorenza Dorsey confirmed the suspect was a 16-year-old male.
The suspected student was transported to the Lee County Jail and is being held on a $125,000 bond.
