Harvey Updyke has until Jan. 9 to pay $350 or he will go to jail.
According to a Tuscaloosa News report, Lee County Circuit Judge Jacob A. Walker will issue arrest warrants for Updyke if he fails to pay $350 by Jan. 9. Another $350 payment is due Feb. 11.
Updyke owes $816,679.98 in restitution, legal and court fees and fines for poisoning the Oaks at Toomer's Corner, according to the Tuscaloosa News.
The Plainsman reported on Sep. 10, Updyke had only paid $99 of the $800,000 he owes Auburn University in restitution.
According to the Tuscaloosa News, Updyke's restitution payments now total $396.
The University announced at the Nov. 7 Board of Trustees meeting new oak trees from Ehrhardt, South Carolina, will be planted at the corner Feb. 16.
