A car struck a 32-year-old female Auburn student at the intersection of North College Street and Tichenor Avenue just before 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5.
According Capt. Lorenza Dorsey with the Auburn Police Division, the student had to be airlifted to Columbus Regional Medical Center for serious head injuries.
"There's no expectations of making any criminal charges at this point," Dorsey said.
Dorsey added the case is still under investigation.
Police responded to a report of a traffic accident at 5:51 p.m.
A 2008 Nissan Armanda was traveling southbound on College Street when it made a left turn onto Tichenor Avenue and struck the student, who was crossing the street.
Paramedics took the student to Felton Little Park where she was put onto a helicopter and flown to Columbus, Georgia.
"As of what we know this morning, she is expected to recover," Dorsey said.
