Equestrian fell to sixth-ranked Texas A&M to close out the regular season Saturday afternoon, March 14, at College Station.
With a slow start for the Tigers in fences, Demi Stiegler claimed the first victory for the team, 82-80, after Elizabeth Benson and Jacqueline Shilen fell to the Aggies. The Tigers then continued to struggle as the next two contenders failed to keep up with their opponents, putting Auburn at a 1-5 in fences.
The Tigers then mimicked their performance in fences closing out horsemanship 1-5, with only Griffin Knight bringing in the win by a mere half of a point higher. However, Hannah Loseke’s opponent received a zero, awarding the point in favor of Auburn, which then made the score 8-3 at the conclusion of horsemanship.
Following in the equitation on the flat, the Tigers brought up their performances with a 2-2 record, including a tie between Ashley Foster and Anna Rea of the Aggies, 89-89.
In the final event, the Tigers took a 2-3 loss in reining, with Katsy Leeman and Allie Dusha taking the victories.
The Tigers were defeated in all 12-7, and will now prepare for the SEC Tournament March 27 and 28 in College Station, Texas.
