Softball sweeps Ole Miss

The first SEC series of the year couldn't have gone any better for the Auburn softball team.

The Tigers mercy ruled the Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford, Mississippi, on Monday, March 16, by a score of 10-2.

Auburn sent three homers over the fence on the day, including back-to-back shots from Branndi Melero and Haley Fagan in the third, putting the Tigers up 4-0. The other homer came from Emily Carosone, who put a solo shot over the center field wall in the first inning.


Fagan batted in two more runs in the fourth to extend the Tigers lead to 7-0.
Carosone added a sacrifice fly in the fifth to make it 8-1, and Jade Rhodes ripped an RBI triple in the sixth to put the Tigers up 9-1.


Rhodes also scored the Tigers' last run of the night, coming in on a grounder.

The win moves the Tigers to 29-2 overall on the season with a 3-0 mark in SEC play.

Next up for Auburn a is home series against Kentucky next weekend.
