Suspect in convenience store robbery arrested

Brenton R. Egan, a 29-year-old Auburn resident, has been charged with first-degree robbery involving a convenience store located at the 1900 block of S. College St.

According to a news release, at approximately 2 a.m. officers responded to a robbery call at the convenience store.

The clerk said that a white male wearing a ski mask and armed with a handgun entered the store and demanded money.

The man then took an undetermined amount of U.S. currency and fled on foot.

The police were given a description of the suspect and responding officers canvassed the area and located an individual that matched the description. The individual, who had been fleeing in a vehicle, was identified as Egan and detained by Auburn Police.

After further investigation, detectives identified Egan as the suspect responsible for the robbery.

Egan was taken into custody and charged with first-degree robbery.

Egan has been transported to the Lee County Jail where he is eligible for a $100,000 bond.
