Gymnastics breaks or ties 52 records in 2015

Now that Auburn gymnastics’ run to the Super Six for only the second time in program history is finished, the Tigers ended the season with 52 broken or tied records.

Auburn scored the highest team total in program history (197.750) vs. No. 9 Georgia and recorded six of the top eight total scores in program history.

The Tigers also set program total score records in the SEC Championship, NCAA Regional, NCAA Semifinal and the NCAA Super Six.

This season included seven victories over top 10 teams, and the victory over No. 4 LSU in the NCAA Semifinal marked the highest ranked opponent Auburn has defeated in program history.

Caitlin Atkinson also had one of the best individual seasons in Auburn history. She won 20 event titles and scored three of the top five all-around totals in program history.

Atkinson broke the program all-around record in back-to-back weeks, scoring a 39.675 against No. 9 Georgia prior to her 39.750 against No. 6 Alabama.

She also put up the highest all-around score in Auburn history at the NCAA Championship with a 39.550, good for third place.

The Tigers averaged 6,188 fans per home meet, totaling 30,940 for the season. Both marks are program records.
