After being granted a one-year reprieve to remain in Conference USA, the UAB Blazers received more positive news for their basketball program – they will play Auburn this upcoming season.
Bruce Pearl made the announcement Monday, May 11, in Muscle Shoals.
“I’m expecting that something could be coming out shortly on a series with UAB,” Pearl told AL.com.
Although the football program called it quits, Blazer’s basketball has shown potential in winning the Conference USA tournament and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Championship this season.
Auburn has not faced UAB since 1999, and this season will be the teams' 18th meeting since the 80s.
The two teams have been in discussion to work out a four-game series split in both Birmingham and Auburn, and until now, it was not revealed if the decision was made.
