Patton Kizzire joins Barbasol Championship

Former Auburn golfer Patton Kizzire has been named to the Barbasol Championship field.

The 2008 graduate accepted a sponsor exemption to play in the tournament and will be hosting a public event during play with the Southeastern Raptor Center.

He announced his news on Twitter, saying, "I'm excited to be competing in the @BarbasolPGATOUR. Come out and watch July 16-19. Grand National @RTJGolf Auburn, Alabama. #wareagle."

Former Auburn alum and PGA TOUR champion Jason Dufner retweeted the announcement to his social media followers.

Kizzire has had an exceptional year with seven top-10 finishes on the WEB.com tour, placing him on top of their money list. In 2015, Kizzire has finished second in two tournaments and has five top-5 placements.

Blayne Barber, another Auburn alum in the Barbasol Championship field, noted on Twitter that Kizzire has been on fire this year.

“I’m thrilled to be playing in the inaugural Barbasol Championship and honored that the committee extended me an invitation," said Kizzire. "Playing in any PGA TOUR event is exciting but doing so in Auburn, surrounded by friends, family and a whole lot of War Eagle fans will be extremely special. I’m hoping to put on a good show for everyone that comes out and make the Auburn faithful proud.”

On Wednesday, July 15, 2015, Kizzire will help host "Birdies & Eagles at RTJ," a public event featuring the magnificent birds from the Southeastern Raptor Center. Sponsored by the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, the event is from 11:00 a.m. to noon at RTJ Grand National behind the clubhouse. Kizzire will be available for a meet and greet with fans during the event.

The tournament's official competition will be July 16 - 19.
