The man accused of killing three people, including two former Auburn football players, in 2012 has filed an appeal.

Desmonte Leonard was sentenced to life without parole in January for the killing DeMario Pitts and former Auburn football players Ladarious Phillips and Ed Christian at the University Heights apartment complex, now known as Tiger Lodge.

Judge Jacob A. Walker denied Leonard’s request for a new trial after he was found guilty on Oct. 7, 2014.

Leonard's attorneys filed an appeal with the Alabama Criminal Court of Appeals on Aug. 19.
