Suspect arrested and charged with the murder of Auburn football player

Auburn Police arrested and charged a suspect in the shooting death of an Auburn football player Sunday, Dec. 14.
Markale Hart, 22, of Camp Hill was arrested and charged with the murder of freshman Jakell Mitchell.
Mitchell was shot at the Tiger Lodge apartment complex just after midnight and rushed to East Alabama Medical Center where he died of multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.
Auburn Police, with the assistance of the Tallapoosa County Sheriff's Department and Jackson Gap Police, arrested Hart near Dadeville, according to an Auburn Police Division press release.
Hart was transported to the Lee County Jail and is being held on a $150,000 bond.
Police do not expect any additional arrests, but said the investigation is still ongoing.
