The Lee County Humane Society hosted its annual Woofstock event Saturday, Oct. 17 at Kiesel Park.
Woofstock is a dog festival that encourages people to bring their dogs to the park and participate in fun activities. The event kicked off at 10 a.m.
This year, there was a wash and wag station, a tie-dye station and a costume contest. The costume contest cost $5 to enter, and a picture on stage with Aubie was included.
The event also included live entertainment by Joey Young and a silent auction. The famous Woofstock t-shirts were available for purchase.
"Woofstock is an amazing fundraiser for the Lee County Humane Society, and it is also a great way to get the family together," said Emily Bowling, administrative and volunteer coordinator for the Humane Society.
Woofstock also included a doggy dilemma question and answer session with Karlene Turkington, a dog trainer form the K-9 Academy.
"Woofstock is a great event for people and their dogs, for people who love dogs and for people who are hoping to add a new furry member to their family," Turkington said. "As a Certified Professional Dog Trainer with over 25 years experience working with dogs, I'm honored to be included and look forward to answering folks' questions about training their dogs."
There were also events geared specifically for children including a kid’s zone complete with inflatables, games and food vendors, and Princess Ariel was in attendance.
The event took place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., with the costume contest starting at 1 p.m.
