On Saturday, Oct. 24 and Sunday Oct. 25, get ready to catch a murderer at the Murder Mystery Theater Dinner.
Bring your sleuthing skills and friends to Irish Bred Pub and Niffers on the Tracks in Opelika and help save your fellow diners from a spooky mystery murderer while enjoying an evening in downtown Opelika and helping the new Opelika Theatre Company.
"The murder mystery dinner has taken off more then we could have ever imagined. We are pretty much sold out already,” said Marty Moore, founding member of the Opelika Theatre Company. “We have had such a great response that we had to add another dinner on Sunday at Niffers On the Tracks. Niffers On the Tracks has had such a great response that they have already booked us for a Valentines show in February.”
Moore said this would be the Opelika Theatre Company's first attempt at a murder mystery dinner.
On Saturday, Oct. 24, seating begins at 6:30 with dinner beginning at 7pm at Irish Bread Pub. On Sunday Oct. 25, dinner will begin at 6pm at Niffers On the Tracks. Tickets to the event are $38 and include a meal. Alcoholic beverages and soft drinks will be available for purchase. Reservations are recommended and seating is limited.
Phyllis Appleby, owner of Death Du Jour Murder Mystery Theater of Memphis, Tennessee, will facilitate the event.
The event is sponsored by the Opelika Theatre Co. and Irish Bred Pub.
The Opelika Theatre Company was an idea that was conceived during the summer by Abby and Steve Rush.
Abby is a high school senior at Opelika High School. She pitched her idea for a theater in Opelika to her father Steve. The father daughter duo sent out an email asking various people to attend a meeting discussing plans for a theater in Opelika.
“Part of our desire as a new theatre company is to mentor, enlighten and encourage local playwrights, actors, artists and musicians in the community,” Moore said.
