A former Auburn coach will return to Jordan-Hare Stadium this fall, this time patrolling the visitors' sideline.
Noel Mazzone, who was the offensive coordinator at Auburn from 1999-2001, has been hired to the same position at Texas A&M, according to multiple reports.
Mazzone coached under former head coach Tommy Tuberville at Ole Miss and followed him when he took the job at Auburn. In his three seasons as offensive coordinator, Auburn averaged 22.3 points per game and went a combined 21-15.
Tuberville replaced Mazzone with Bobby Petrino following the 2001 season, and Mazzone has since been the offensive coordinator at five Division I schools.
Mazzone is slated to return to The Plains on Sept. 17, when the Aggies will travel to Auburn looking to avenge the Tigers' 26-10 victory in College Station in the teams' last meeting.
