Auburn lands five-star defensive tackle Derrick Brown

Derrick Brown, a consensus five-star recruit and the No. 1 player in Georgia, signed with Auburn during a live telecast on ESPN2 on National Signing Day, making him the highest-rated signee in the 2016 Auburn recruiting class.

The 6-foot-4, 320-pound defensive tackle from Sugar Hill, Georgia, chose Auburn over Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama.

Auburn defensive line coach Rodney Garner was Brown's primary recruiter for the Tigers, and Brown has pointed to Garner as the coach he built the closest relationship with during his recruitment.

ESPN ranks Brown as the ninth-best overall prospect and the fifth-best defensive tackle. Rivals ranks him 17th overall and the third-best tackle, and 247sports ranks him sixth overall and the third-best tackle.

In his senior season, Brown recorded 106 total tackles, 42 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, 11 pass deflections and an interception.
