Baseball drops series finale at Arkansas

The Tigers dropped the final game of the Arkansas series on Sunday, March 27th, by a score of 3-1. Auburn went 0-3 on the weekend while in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Unlike the previous two games, this game lacked offense as a cold front moved through Arkansas. Auburn got on the board first off of a solo home run from Jackson Burgreen. This was Burgreen’s first home run since 2013 but his only hit of the day. With that hit, Auburn now has 19 home runs through 24 games. The Tigers only had 18 home runs in the entire 2015 season.

Auburn standout Anfernee Grier had a career-high four hits but couldn't make it home, which seemed to be a theme across the board. Joshua Palacios added two hits of his own.

On the mound, Cole Lipscomb had a strong showing, allowing only one run and three hits through 6-plus innings. Izaac Yarbrough took the loss after allowing two runs in just 1.1 innings, dropping him to 2-1 on the season.

Auburn, now 11-13 on the season and 1-5 in conference, will take on the University of Alabama in the Capital City Classic on Tuesday at Montgomery’s Riverwalk Stadium.
