Auburn police arrest sex offender for failure to provide employment information

The Auburn Police Division arrested Walter A. Willis, age, 51, on a felony warrant charging him with Failure of a Sex Offender to Provide Employment Information on Thursday, July 7, according to a press release from APD.

Auburn Police received an anonymous tip that a confirmed sex offender was working for a temporary employment service in the Auburn area without registering with local law enforcement authorities, the release states.

An investigation by Auburn Police, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service, revealed that Willis had not registered as a sex offender since 2003. Willis had also previously been charged with failure to register in six other states. Detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest charging him with Failure of a Sex Offender to Provide Employment Information.

Willis was immediately taken into custody by Auburn Police with the assistance of members of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force and transported to the Lee County Detention Facility.
