High-fashion runway collections often seem unattainable for us non-celeb citizens, but a few easy tricks can bring the fall 2016 runway fads to your closet.
According to Vogue and Elle Magazine, this year’s biggest trends include eccentric prints, odd pairings and biker babe edginess. Though most of the items found on the runway have price tags exceeding my life savings, affordable imitations exist that can be used to create fashion week-worthy outfits.
Some of the biggest trends seem to be taken straight from a ski resort in the '80s. Puffer jackets and “ski-slope” sweaters are all the rage, and can be found at almost any department store.
Inspired by 90’s grunge, crushed velvet and statement chokers were in almost every show. From shoes to dresses to pants, velvet is a rich texture for fall. While diamond-encrusted chokers are a bit out of reach for the average individual, toned-down versions exist almost anywhere.

Fall evening wear featured upholstery-inspired brocade patterns and victorian silhouettes. Full, ruffled sleeves and high-necked collars paired with lacy floral motifs reminisce on history.

Good news for those of us who enjoy rolling out of bed as late as possible, “athleisure” street wear clothing has remained in style. Some go-to affordable brands include Adidas and Nike, but statement pieces such as a sweatshirt dress are worth the investment.
