Arrest made for criminal mischief, property theft

Auburn Police Division made an arrest for theft and criminal mischief at a business on U.S. Highway 29. 

Auburn resident Eric Lamar Nelms Jr., 19, was arrested on felony warants charging him with criminal mischief and two counts of property theft on July 10, APD said.

Survelance footage led police to identify Nelms as a suspect. The theft and damages occured at a business in the 2000 block of Highway 29 S on June 5. 

A 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe was unlawfully entered and damaged, as well as a fence. A 2008 Ford Mustang was stolen. Opelika Police recovered the stolen Mustang. 

Nelms surrended himself to APD detectives and was transported to Lee County Jail. He is eligible for a $8,000 bond.
