Two people were shot in an Opelika convenience store robbery early this morning.
At approximately 2:55 a.m. the Opelika Police Department received a 911 call reporting a robbery at 280 Marathon at 1100 Columbus Parkway, according to a press release from the department. Officers responded and located two gunshot victims at the scene.
One victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia. The second victim suffered a non-life-threatening injury and was taken by ambulance to the East Alabama Medical Center.
Three suspects pulled up to the business, police said, when two of the suspects, armed with firearms, got out of the vehicle and entered the store.
The suspects demanded money and then began shooting. They fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money, entered the vehicle driven by the third suspect and drove away in an unknown direction.
One suspect is described as a black man wearing a baseball cap with a logo and a dark-colored hoodie.
A second suspect is described as a black man wearing a blue hoodie, a white shirt, dark pants and white shoes.
The suspects' vehicle is described as a dark-in-color, four door with a sunroof and a spoiler on the rear.
Police ask that anyone who may recognize either suspect, the vehicle or have any other information on this case call their investigative division at 334-705-5220. People with information may also call the secret witness hotline at 334-745-8665.
