For their February meeting, Auburn University Board of Trustees met at Auburn University in Montgomery and reviewed budgets and bylaws as well as voted on plans to expand the University's intramural fields.
"[The intramural fields] will be located to the south and southwest of the current fields, across Lem Morrison Drive adjacent to and behind the fraternity houses," said Mike Clardy, assistant vice president for communications and marketing. "The cost to construct the intramural fields/club sports complex is anticipated to be approximately $12 million and will be financed by Campus Recreation funds."
According to the Office of the President, the Campus Recreation has proposed construction for additional recreation fields to expand the capacity for outdoor intramural and club sports. The proposed project is expected to provide additional outdoor recreational field space including new softball and multi-use fields for sports including lacrosse, rugby and sports.
The Recreation Field Expansion project is intended to meet the increasing student enrollment at the University.
