COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Anthony Schwartz who many describe as the fastest player in college football can still be slowed down by injuries.

The speedy sophomore receiver broke his hand during the preseason and while he’s seen the field in all of Auburn’s first four games, he has had limited mobility with his hand.

While teammate and fellow wideout Seth Williams was healthy heading into the season, and had begun building a good rapport with QB Bo Nix, he suffered a shoulder injury against Tulane.

He missed the Kent State game entirely and was considered day-to-day earlier in the week leading up to the SEC opener against Texas A&M.

In Auburn’s 28-20 win over Texas A&M, both receivers showed that teams have got to respect both of them according to Schwartz.

Schwartz, even with a hand that isn’t 100%, caught two passes for 30 yards but “flash”, as he is also referred to, made his impact early on the ground rushing once for 57 yards and a touchdown.

The touchdown by Schwartz put the Tigers up 7-0 and put them in the driver’s seat for the remainder of the game. It was a play that Schwartz knew he would score on.

“It felt great to be back, felt great to contribute to the offense,” Schwartz said. “I knew that play was going to be special. I told myself before the game started, like the whole week, I’m gonna score on this play I know I’m gonna score on this play. I got the ball, got a good block by Sal and I scored.”

Even with missing a game and a half, the Nix-to-Williams connection didn't miss a beat. Williams led the team with six targets turning those into 4 receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown.

Williams believes that this receiving corps is just getting started.

“Every game we play is a glimpse of what we can do,” Williams said. “I feel like as a group we keep on growing and stuff. We’re a young group, I feel like every game, we growing, we learning more stuff as the season goes by.”
