Charming Oaks is one of the many local businesses offering Black Friday sales.

As Black Friday approaches, local businesses are gearing up for one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

Many Auburn and Opelika stores have released their promotions for the holiday, with some locations offering extended shopping hours for customers. Numerous boutiques are opening their doors early for those eager to begin their holiday shopping.

Fab’rik, the boutique in downtown Auburn, will be having a 30% off storewide sale. Behind the Glass, another boutique, will offer 25% off storewide. Both stores are open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Some stores are offering additional deals to their earliest shoppers. Charming Oaks is giving goodie bags to the first 30 people in line. Each bag includes a coupon for 50% off one item. All items in the store will be 20% off from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Storewide sales at Therapy Boutique will start at 30% off from its opening at 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. Sales will then be 20% off until closing at 6 p.m.

Ellie Clothing is offering several doorbusters. The boutique, open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., will have $30 shackets — a cross between a shirt and jacket — $25 Christmas graphic tees, $10 belts and multiple $15 sale racks throughout the store.

In addition to the downtown lineup, Black Friday deals are taking place at stores throughout Auburn.

Lily Jane Boutique, located in Auburn’s Midtown Bodegas, is offering guests a free gift with a purchase of over $50. Sarah Jane Levine, owner of the boutique, said she is looking forward to the holiday.

“We hope people choose to shop local this year," Levine said. "We’re ready for them.”

Located in the Auburn Mall, The Maker and Merchant will be celebrating Black Friday with sales as well. The store features items from about 80 local businesses in a boutique layout, and many will feature discounts of up to 25% off.

The Maker and Merchant will be open from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. The first 10 customers in line will receive a free “Support Local” canvas tote, and those who spend over $100 will get a free gift with their purchase. Individual sales from each vendor will be announced on the boutique’s social media pages soon.

The Mint Julep Boutique, also in the Auburn Mall, is hosting a VIP event on Friday from 6-8 a.m. Tickets are $10 at the door, and attendees will have access to exclusive sales and special gifts. An additional sale, which has yet to be announced, will take place for all shoppers beginning at 8 a.m.

In Opelika, Studio 3:19 is featuring a buy-one, get-one-free special on earrings. The boutique will also offer a 30% storewide discount and multiple $10 and $15 sale racks.

Emma Claire Dunnam, a Studio 3:19 employee, said it is important to shop locally, especially considering shipping delays are expected from larger companies this season.

“It’s so much more important to shop local," she said. "You can get amazing things in store because you’re not going to be able to get it online."

The Tiny Closet Boutique in downtown Opelika said it will also offer sales, both online and in-store, and more details will be announced.
