Gregory Geraldo Miles, 32, has been arrested and charged for the murder of Jela Marshall, the Opelika Police Department said Wednesday.
Miles is currently being held at the Lee County Jail.
The case is ongoing and still under investigation, according to OPD.
The Opelika Police Department is investigating the alleged homicide of a gunshot victim on Tuesday night at approximately 6:42 p.m.
Officers were dispatched to the 900 Block on Morgan Avenue, according to a press release from the Opelika Police Department.
Upon arrival, Lee County Coroner Bill Harris and officers pronounced the victim deceased. The victim was identified as Jela Shermarke Marshall, 37, by Harris at the scene.
The case remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at 334-705-5200 or the secret witness hotline at 334-745-8665. Tips can also be anonymously submitted through the Opelika police app.
