No. 6 Auburn’s Suni Lee earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors for her stellar performances against No. 9 Alabama last Friday, Jan. 28.
Contributing to Auburn’s season-high score of 197.525 and competing in the all-around for the first time in her collegiate career, Lee’s all-around score of 39.700 was enough to win the title for the meet. Alabama’s Mati Waligora was the runner up in the all-around, trailing Lee with a score of 39.375.
Lee started out strong on her first career vault by earning a 9.875. She followed up by scoring a 9.925 on bars, a 9.975 on beam, and a 9.925 on floor. Her scores tied her for second place on bars and floor and her beam score was tied for first in the meet.
These numbers were good enough for the second best SEC all-around score this season, as well as the third highest all-around score in program history.
Lee and the Tigers will next face No. 8 LSU this Friday, Feb. 5. The top-10 matchup will take place at 3:00 p.m. CST in Baton Rouge and will be streamed on ESPNU.
