On Aug. 26 at approximately 10:48 a.m., the body of Shelby man Jerry G. McKinney was recovered after apparently drowning in Lake Martin. Officials said his body was recovered around 200 yards from his campsite and that no further information is available.

Wednesday, the man at the center of the investigation went missing after taking a boat out at the lake around 2 p.m. However, other boaters found an unoccupied boat at approximately 4 p.m. near Wind Creek State Park. Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Marine Patrol Division and Park Rangers promptly began their search, with several other rescue crews joining soon after.

Officials said that they would continue to update the situation as the investigation continues.
