Auburn guard Tre Donaldson announced, via his personal Instagram, his intentions to enter the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining Wednesday morning.

Donaldson is the second player this offseason to leave the Tigers since their 78-76 loss to Yale in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Auburn also lost K.D. Johnson to the transfer portal.

The Tallahassee, Florida native had 10 starts this season, averaging 6.7 points per game, 3.2 assists per game and 2.4 rebounds per game. Last season, Donaldson averaged 2.5 points per game, 1.2 assists per game and 1.4 rebounds per game as a primary bench player.

During his career at Auburn, Donaldson was part of two NCAA Tournament appearances, making it as far as the second round last season, as well as an SEC Tournament championship last month.

Donaldson notably hit all three of his shots from deep in a 13-point, three-rebound performance in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament against Iowa.

With more roster decisions still to be made, head coach Bruce Pearl and the Tigers will look to the transfer portal for possible replacements for Donaldson as well as incoming high school recruit Tahaad Pettiford to fill the void at the point guard position.
