The No. 6 Auburn women’s golf team started its 2024-45 season with a victory, earning first place at the 2024 Cougar Classic on Tuesday. The Tigers finished the 54-hole event with a team score of 847 (-5), edging out LSU by just one stroke.
Sophomore Anna Davis continued her impressive run since joining the team in January, earning her fourth top five finish with a runner-up performance. Davis finished the tournament an even-par 71 in the final round and a total score of 207 (-6).
Junior Katie Cranston also made her mark with her first top-10 finish in collegiate competition, placing her in a tie for sixth place. Cranston delivered consistent rounds of 70 (-1) in each round, concluding the event 3-under (210), capped off by four birdies in the final round.
Junior Rachel Gourley posted back-to-back rounds under par, including a 1-under 70 in the final round. After a shaky start with a bogey on the par-5, Gourley rallied with three birdies, finishing the tournament at 217 (+4) and tying for 29th place.
In her first collegiate competition, freshman Balma Daìvalos Guaita tied for 35th place. Guaita delivered a final round of 72 (+1), bringing her 54-hole total to 217 (+4).
Auburn will travel to Norman, Oklahoma, where the Tigers will compete in the Schooner Fall Classic, hosted by the University of Oklahoma, from September 21-23.
