Auburn Softball wins via Mercy rule against UNC with a score of 11-1 at Jane B. Moore Field on February 9th, 2025.

Auburn softball is ranked No. 19 in the country and has been dominating to start the year. The squad is 14-1 and their only loss has come at the hands of Louisiana Tech last weekend 5-1.

Auburn has been dominating opponents with their bats led by Abbey Smith who is hitting .417 on the year and Icess Tresvik who leads the team in home runs with six. Auburn is in the top-15 in the country in home runs at 22. They also have been pitching very well with a team ERA of 2.58 led by their ace SJ Guerin who has a 1.23 ERA and two complete games on the year so far.

Auburn this weekend will be playing a double header on Friday and Saturday and then one game on Sunday. They will be playing Rutgers, McNeese State twice and Louisiana twice.

They start off the weekend with Rutgers, who is 7-9 to start the year. The Scarlet Knights have had a harder schedule playing multiple ranked opponents like Missouri, Arkansas and Tennessee who Auburn will play later in the year.

The Scarlett Knights haven't hit for much power so far this year with only two home runs and a .226 team batting average. They have been much better pitching with a team ERA of 3.39 led Ella Harrison and Kelsey Hoekstra who the Tigers will likely face.

Next the Tigers face McNeese State in the second game of each double header. McNeese State is 10-5 on the year and also played against Tennessee twice, losing both games. McNeese States calling card is their hitting whereas a team they are hitting .319 on the year and have six players hitting over .300.

Their bats are led by Samantha Mundine who is hitting a scorching .470 to start the year and Jada Munoz who has four home runs to start the year. They're pitching hasn't been near as good as their hitting with a team ERA of 4.29.

Lastly the Tigers face Louisiana who sits at an 8-4 record to start the year. The Rajun Cajans is hitting .341 as a team to start the year which is good enough for 30th in the entire country. They are led by Kalya Falterman and Cecilia Vasquez who both are hitting over .420 with multiple extra base hits through 12 games.

Their pitching staff is headlined by two players who have been dominant to start the year. Sam Ryan and Mallory Wheeler lead the team in innings, and each have three complete games. Both also have a sub 2.7 ERA so the Tigers will more than likely face one of if not both of these pitchers.

First pitch is slated for 3:00 pm CST on Friday in Auburn.
