Auburn's Jackson Koivun becomes the first player to repeat as SEC individual champion in 49 years. Koivun, only a sophomore, won it last year as a true freshman and took care of business versus the field again this year.

“Jackson is just an elite competitor,” Tigers head coach Nick Clinard said. “He competes in everything he does back home. He’s always in the fight. He’s got no quit in him. I was wondering if that putter would wake up this week, and it sure did those last six holes. That made all the difference.”

Koivun birdied five of the last six holes to win the individual championship by one stroke on Friday. Koivun shot an outstanding 12-under through the three rounds at Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, GA. He finished round 3 at 6-under.

Koivun becomes the first Auburn player to win the individual championship multiple times and the seventh champion overall for the program.

“I was definitely a little nervous over that final putt, but it was awesome to get it done again,” Koivun said. “I knew all the work I had put in would pay off. I just had to trust in myself.”

Auburn as a team also finished 38-under through the first three rounds and earned the top overall seed in the tournament and was nine strokes better than second place LSU at 29-under.

As a team the Tigers set the tournament scoring record breaking the 2014 Alabama team who shot 34-under.

Koivun helped lead Auburn to not only an SEC tournament championship last season but also a national championship and with more performances like these the Tigers are a great shape to repeat in both.
