For the first time in more than a month, the Auburn Tigers (13-13, 3-10) won and conquered the Missouri Tigers (16-12, 4-9) on the road in a strong 71-58 showing.
This marks the Tigers' first victory since Jan. 15 at home in an upset against the No. 21 Alabama Crimson Tide, snapping a long losing streak of 13 away conference games. This win is also Auburn's third straight against Mizzou as well as their third in their last four trips to Columbia, Missouri. Auburn has now matched their conference win total from last season and will now have momentum going into their final two home games of the season.
“I thought overall our intensity was pretty good,” Auburn head coach Larry Vickers said. “We’ve got to close basketball games better, but overall, it’s so hard to win a game on the road in the SEC, so we should be happy to get one today. ... I’m proud of them. We do a good job playing with leads. That gives us a lot more confidence. I’m super happy for this group. It’s so possible to go 0-16 in this league, and we’ve managed to win three. Hopefully we can get a couple more before the end of the year.”
Guard Kaitlyn Duhon, following an incredibly strong showing last Sunday against the Texas A&M Aggies, put up another dominant performance against Mizzou on Thursday night. With 19 points, seven rebounds, and four steals, Duhon led the team in all three categories.
Additionally, Khady Leye and Harrisoum Coulibaly added 13 and 11 points respectively, bringing Auburn to three double digit scorers.
Mya Petticord nearly became a fourth, with nine points coming from going three of eight from three. Those threes contributed to Auburn as a team totaling eight three pointers made on the night, which is their most in an SEC game this season.
Mizzou came out hot on the night with a 57.1% field percentage going 20 of 35, but they also had season high numbers in turnovers. They gave the ball up 30 times, leading to them taking 34 fewer shots than Auburn, who went 26 of 69 on the night. Mizzou's leading scorer, Grace Slaughter, went seven of nine from the field a long with a three point make and, with going four of four from the free throw line, matched Auburn's Duhon for 19 points in the night.
A huge point of emphasis was the difference in capitalization on turnovers between with the two teams. In the first half, Auburn forced 19 turnovers, leading to 16 points. Meanwhile, Mizzou did not score on any of their takeaways.
Auburn maintained the lead with relative comfort for the majority of the game, never dipping below 10 points in the second half and only allowing the score to come within 10 once at the beginning of the fourth.
Auburn's 71 point game marked their first 70 point conference game of the season.
Auburn will return to Neville Arena for their final two home games of the season, with the first being their matchup against No. 24 Georgia on Feb. 23, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. CST.
