UPDATE, 11:54 a.m.: The tornado warning for Lee County and Auburn University has ended, but the area remains under a tornado watch until 2 p.m.
UPDATE 2/3/2022, 6:26 p.m.
UPDATE | 9:49 p.m., June 19: The tornado watch has been canceled for Lee County, according to the National Weather Service.
March 17, 11:35 p.m. — Significant Weather Advisory issued for eastern Lee County
Gov. Kay Ivey issued a state of emergency for Alabama due to severe weather that may cause flooding, strong winds, hail and tornadoes. The state of emergency goes into effect at 6 p.m. March 16.
Severe storms could impact Lee County on Thursday afternoon from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Lee County is now under a tornado watch in effect until 11 p.m., National Weather Service Birmingham said in a tweet today at 5:23 p.m.

A new house is being built on Lee County Road 38 in Beauregard, Alabama.
As families, friends and a community looked and listened intently, the choir of Providence Baptist Church sang the gospel melody, “I’m Gonna Make It.”
During the Committee of the Whole before Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, Ward 3 Council Member Beth Witten proposed that the Council suspend its rules for appointing someone to the Auburn City Schools Board of Education.
