AUMB reflects on win in "For Whom the Band Tolls"

The stadium lights flashed and flickered across the field, with fans looking onward for an explanation. Suddenly, the Auburn University Marching Band marched forward as the announcer's voice boomed over the stadium, announcing the first song of their Metallica-inspired show, a cover of the band's 1984 classic, "For Whom the Bell Tolls." Performed two times in Jordan-Hare stadium, Auburn's Metallica show won two categories in the competition, For Whom the Band Tolls.

University holds AI informational session - On the Pl(AI)ns

The Biggio Center, in collaboration with other university programs, hosted an event to promote the use of artificial intelligence, deeming it an "AI playground." Supported by exhibits Microsoft and Salesforce, various speakers gathered Jan. 25 in the Melton Student Center to present to students, faculty and staff.

University announces Miller Hall temporary closure due to 'microbial growth'

Following an investigation last week, Auburn University notified employees and students that Miller Hall would be temporarily closed after the offices of Risk Management and Safety and Facilities Management conducted a test of the building and found evidence of microbial growth in the basement of the building.

60 years ago, Harold A. Franklin enrolled as a graduate student at Auburn University, the first African American to do so. Like many attempts at integration across the nation, Franklin was met with considerable pushback, and he eventually left the university. He received a master's degree from Auburn in 2020 after coming back to defend his thesis. On Jan. 9, 2023, Auburn celebrated the anniversary of Franklin's enrollment, marking the beginning of an integrated Auburn University.

Every Iron Bowl, a group of veterans hike from the away team's stadium to the home team stadium to raise awareness of veteran suicide. They will carry 22 pounds to commemorate the 22 veteran lives taken by suicide in Alabama annually on average. The hike, known as a ruck, brings community to veterans across the state and will begin Nov. 22 and end Nov. 25, the day of the 2023 Iron Bowl.
