Pocket Points app benefiting students coming spring 2016

Pocket Points, a new, free mobile app, is impacting universities all over the United States, rewarding students for staying off their phones during class. It works by opening the application then locking the phone. The longer the phone is locked while the student is in class, the more points are accumulated.

Greek life networking app strives to connect greeks nationally

GoGreekNow, an app founded by Sigma Chi fraternity brothers from Iowa State University, strives to be an “all-encompassing, one-stop shop” for Greek life across the country, according to co-founder Mark Hagen. Hagen and Nick Scott, who were roommates and good friends in college, began developing GoGreekNow in fall 2014 and officially launched the app in April 2015. Living in different cities after college, Scott said he and Hagen kept in touch.

A Day in the Life at The Bean

Sculptor Willie Cole tells art students to 'always look forward'

Willie Cole, American painter and sculptor, spoke to art students about his transformative art at an informal lunch Friday, Oct. 2 at noon in Biggin Hall. Indelible Impressions, an art exhibit featuring selections of Cole's paintings, photographs, prints and sculptures, opened Saturday, Sept. 26 and will be on display at the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art until Sunday, Jan. 10, according to the museum's website.

Artist Creighton Michael collaborates with art students and presents exhibition

New York based artist, Creighton Michael, collaborated with art students Monday, September 28 through Wednesday, September 30 from 9 am until 6 pm at Biggin Gallery in which he continued his series of Dimensional Drawing Projects in Pattern Play II. On Thursday, October 1 from 5-7 pm, Michael opened the art exhibition and then presented a lecture.

Micah Melnick and her husband, Blake Melnick, who received his Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from Auburn, are working to help these families through their organization, BigHouse Foundation.
