The Auburn University Board of Trustees voted Friday morning for a 2 percent tuition increase and a housing cost increase that ranges from $60 to $120 for the 2019-2020 term.

Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox wins Democratic nomination for governor

Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox wins the Democratic nomination in the Alabama gubernatorial primary.  According to The New York Times, Maddox won 54.6% of Democratic votes, receiving 154,558 votes in total.  "With our victory tonight, I believe that a new day is possible in our politics," Maddox told supporters at his election watch party in Tuscaloosa.

Gov. Kay Ivey wins Republican nomination for Alabama Governor

Gov. Kay Ivey received 282,843 votes putting her at 56 percent of the vote with 89 percent of precincts reporting, according to The New York Times.
