After what looked like another easy weekend sweep for Auburn, the LSU Tigers snatched the win, 7-1 to end the last game of the regular season. But this win wouldn’t be just a normal win for the Tigers.

Auburn softball matched their last-season win total Friday, by way of a 9-1 mercy rule win over SEC west foe Arkansas. Auburn (42-8) started slow, but saw runs come in bunches in the bottom of the sixth, and had stellar pitching all night from Marcy Harper, who went all six innings, allowing only four hits and notching five strikeouts. “Marcy threw phenomenal,” said head coach Clint Myers.
“We could’ve easily rolled over and given it to them,” Carosone said. “We did not want to get swept. Three games, that wouldn’t have been acceptable for them to win against us.”
