Column: Top quarterbacks Auburn will face this season

An SEC schedule includes teams with many of the nation's top players housed in each roster. Auburn will face off against some of the toughest in the country, with the Tiger defense being tested early and often throughout the 2016 season. Auburn is tasked with minimizing the talents of these top quarterbacks from around - and outside of - the conference:

Commissioners agree on student-athlete time play changes

The commissioners of the five power conferences announced on Thursday, an agreement in concept on changes they will propose that are intended to give student-athletes more time off. The purpose of the changes is to rebalance the student experience between athletics and campus life, allowing athletes to explore other interests they may have while in college.

Harrell to play in NBA Summer League

Grothe closes Olympic trials in 1500 freestyle

Auburn's Zane Grothe swam in lane two at the men’s 1500-meter freestyle finals on Sunday, closing out the trials in eighth place. The Auburn record-holder for the 500-, 1,000 and 1650-yard freestyles, Grothe clocked the fifth-fastest time (15:11.72) in the 1500m freestyle Saturday afternoon during prelims at the USA Swimming Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska. Grothe already swam in the finals of the 400-meter freestyle and finished in fourth place. Auburn swimming and diving has had eight current and former athletes qualify for the Olympics.

Murphy named WGCA All-American scholar

The Women's Golf Coaches association named Auburn sophomore Kelli Murphy an All-American Scholar, the WGCA announced Tuesday. Murphy was one of 828 golfers nationwide to receive the recognition.

Women's tennis names Hooshyar associate head coach

The ITA National Women's Assistant Coach of the Year, Chris Hooshyar, has been named Associate Head Coach for Auburn women’s tennis, head coach Lauren Spencer announced Thursday. “Words really can't describe how much Chris means to this program and personally to me and my family,” said Spencer.

Lawrence, Lazor qualify for finals at Olympic Trials

Auburn's Micah Lawrence and Annie Lazor have one trial left to compete in for a Team USA spot and berth in the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Lawrence, who finished sixth in the 200-meter breaststroke in the London Olympics in 2012, qualified second and Lazor seventh in the same event’s semifinals on Thursday.

Basketball to play UCONN in home-and-home series

Just two days after Bruce Pearl and the Tigers face Final Four opponent Oklahoma in the "Birthday of Basketball" they will travel to Hartford, Connecticut to take on the UCONN Huskies on December 23. Auburn last met the three time national champion Huskies in the Great Alaskan Shootout in the 1989 season, a game won by Connecticut. New Tiger guard Mustapha Heron will be returning home to Connecticut along with coach Bruce Pearl. The freshman was a star player at Sacred Heart in Waterbury, Connecticut, where he led his team to three consecutive state championships. Other non-conference games for the Tigers will be Georgia State on Nov.

Football to face Penn State in 2021, 2022

The Auburn Tiger football team will take on the Penn State Nittany Lions in 2021 and 2022 as part of a home-and-home series, athletic director Jay Jacobs announced Monday. The first matchup will take place in State College, Pennsylvania on September 18, 2021 in Beaver Stadium.
