Economics department tries to relocate after five years in Haley Center

In August 2014, the economics department spent the fifth anniversary of its forced relocation to the Haley Center basement the same way it always did: by trying to get out. In 2008, the economics department was moved from the College of Business to the College of Liberal Arts because of internal disputes said Michael Stern, department char and associate economics professor.

Alabama not included in same-sex marriage legalization

While the rest of the country continues to pass progressive legislation providing same-sex couples the legal and economic rights heterosexual couples have, much of the South and Midwest continue to oppose such measures. Many of those states contain the highest populations of same-sex couples, Mississippi being the highest and Alabama ranking in the top 10.
