Even though the Auburn football team lost the game Saturday, Oct. 30, fans dressed in costumes were ready to experience Halloween, including five men from Tower Bridge, England.
Cousins Danny and Carl Bradbury, Chris Pilling, Elliott Cox and Phil Chrimes visited Auburn after hearing it was amazing from Danny's brother, according to Pilling.
This time last year, Danny said they were interested in visiting the U.S. for Halloween and found an article on Bleacher Report naming the top 10 party schools.
Danny said they flew into Washington, D.C., and drove to West Virigina University for the game against Texas Christian University on Halloween last year, and ESPN college game day was also there.
"And then we absolutely just hit gold," Danny said. "It was just such an amazing time, and we were like, 'Right, we're going to keep doing this.'"
During the last 12 months, Danny said they have been visiting different states and going to college games.
"It's just interesting to see how it compares to the English party culture, like how different it is," Danny said.
Since then, they have been to West Chester University of Pennsylvania, University of Georgia and Arizona State University.
The group said English football has the same following American football has in the U.S.
Pilling said the NFL has become more popular in England since teams started playing approximately three regular session games per year in London.
"The more you watch it, the better understanding of the rules there is," Pilling said.
Another aspect of English culture that is different than the U.S. is how Halloween is celebrated, according to Pilling.
"It's celebrated, but not like (in the U.S.)," Pilling said. "People still dress up, but it'd only be one night. Every night leading up to Halloween (Americans) celebrate. I mean, it's ... 50 percent as big back home as it is down here."
The group dressed as firefighters for the game.
"Firemen are sexy," Pilling said. "Girls go crazy for the English firemen."
After experiencing an Auburn game day, the group said it was amazing.
Danny said they plan on coming back to the U.S. next year to celebrate Halloween again.
