Auburn man arrested on charges of firing a gun into downtown motel

The Auburn Police Division arrested an Auburn man over the weekend on charges that he shot a firearm into a downtown motel and a vehicle in the parking lot.

On Sunday, Police arrested Dequavious Demand Cobb, 26, from Auburn, on felony warrants charging him with discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and an unoccupied vehicle.

The arrest was the result of a "shots fired"  call in the parking lot of a downtown motel in the 100 block of North College Street at about 2:45 a.m. Sunday morning. When they arrived, they found a gun had been shot into an occupied motel room and a 2006 Mercury vehicle in the parking lot.

No injuries were reported.

Cobb was later developed as a suspect. He was involved in an argument with the victim that escalated, and was identified as a suspect, police said.

Cobb is being held at the Lee County Jail on a $55,000 bond.
