Auburn baseball releases 2018 schedule

The Auburn baseball team will play 19 of its first 21 games at Plainsman Park in 2018, coach Butch Thompson announced Thursday.

The Tigers will return seven of its top 10 pitchers in innings pitched and seven starters to a team that went 37-26 (16-14 SEC) and finished as the runner-up in the Tallahassee regional last season.

Auburn will open the 2018 campaign against Longwood in a three-game series at Plainsman Park beginning February 16. The Tigers will also face Georgia State (Feb. 20), Troy (Feb. 21), and Bryant (Feb 23-25) at home in February before closing out the month at South Alabama (Feb. 27).

March will see BYU (Mar. 2-3) and Northeastern (Mar. 9-11) come to the Plains for weekend series before a pair of weekday matchups against Georgia Tech (Mar. 13) and Memphis (Mar. 14).

Auburn will begin SEC play on March 16 against Texas A&M, followed by a three-game series at Kentucky (Mar. 23-25), and a three-game set at home against Missouri (Mar. 30-April 1).

The Tigers will play just one weekend series at home in the month of April, playing host to Mississippi State April 13-15. The other weekends have Auburn playing at Arkansas (Apr. 6-8), at Alabama (Apr. 20-22), and at Florida (Apr. 27-29). Three mid-game matchups at home will complete the month of April for Auburn (vs. Alabama A&M, Apr. 3; vs. UAB, Apr. 17; vs. Samford, Apr. 24).

Home matchups against Vanderbilt (May 4-6) and LSU (May 17-19) bookend the month of May for Auburn. A trip to Ole Miss May 11-13 will be surrounded by a home game against South Alabama (May 8) and a road game at Troy (May 15).

The SEC Tournament will take place May 22-27 in Hoover, Alabama, with NCAA regionals being played June 1-4, Super Regionals June 8-11, and the College World Series June 16-27.
