A spirit that is not afraid

The Plainsman's Choice for Best Movie of the Year: 'Get Out'

Comedian Jordan Peele’s directorial debut was the surprise hit of 2017, and its different and thrilling execution has solidified it as one of the best horror-thriller movies in recent memory.

Daniel Kayuuya’s Academy Award-nominated performance as protagonist Chris is exceptional, and the humor of Lil Rey Howery as TSA Officer Rod Williams offers a great bit of comedy in an otherwise chilling movie.

Tackling the theme of systematic racism as horror is something that makes “Get Out” so special and gives hope to Peele’s directing future. To say that the movie had audiences on the edges of their seats is an understatement.

Several audible screams and gasps could be heard throughout the theater as viewers watched Chris realize his situation and struggle to escape it.

Not only is “Get Out” incredibly relevant in today’s social climate, but it offers one of the best thrills in movie history.

The movie blew its $4.5 million budget out of the water and made $255 million at the box office along with rave reviews and a multitude of award nominations.

“Get Out” does very little wrong and does just about everything right, making it a must watch cinematic experience.
