USC vacated of its 2004 national championship

As of today, there is officially no national championship team for the 2004-2005 football season.

The Presidential Oversight Committee of the Bowl Championship Series vacated the University of Southern California's 2004 BCS National Championship.

Preliminary reports suggest that the loss of the title occured because of improper benefits received by Reggie Bush during his time at USC.

Bush also had his 2005 Heisman trophy taken away last year because of the issue.

USC's participation in the 2005 Orange Bowl and the 2006 Rose Bowl has also been vacated.

Auburn's status at the end of the 2004 season will not change since the team was left out of the BCS National Championship game. The Tigers ended the season undefeated and with an SEC title.
