The Auburn Tigers battled down to the wire, but lost their fourth SEC matchup of the season 53-56 to Arkansas.
Forward Kenny Gabriel led the team with 13 points while guard Chris Denson came off the bench to score 10 points.
Auburn shot 38 percent field goals in the first half and was 2-6 on three-point shots.
Gabriel opened the second half with a three-point shot, with Arkansas firing back with one of its own.
Auburn held a high-flying Arkansas offense to 19 points in the first half, but scored three three-point shots in the first nine minutes of the second half.
As coach Barbee called a timeout to rearrange his defense, Auburn trailed by three with a minute remaining, Auburn, still trailing by three with 7 seconds remaining, was stopped by Arkansas for a chance to tie the game.
Gabriel missed the three-point attempt, and Auburn remains winless on the road against SEC opponents.
The Tigers play at Tennessee this Saturday and meet Georgia at home Feb. 1.
