The LSU Tigers defeated the Auburn Tigers women's basketball team 57-41 Sunday afternoon.
"It was a bad day for Auburn and a good day for LSU," said coach Nell Fortner. "We just could not find many baskets out there today, but credit LSU because they can get long and tough with that zone defense."
Freshman guard Hasina Muhammad led Auburn (11-16, 3-11) in scoring with 12 points, four rebounds and three steals in 30 minutes of playing time. Auburn struggled as a team, shooting 30.9 percent from the field and 40 ercent from the free throw line.
Auburn trailed 33-26 at halftime and couldn't apitalize on LSU's 24 total turnovers. Auburn was also out-rebounded 34-20.
Auburn will play Alabama Feb. 23 at Auburn Arena. Tip-off will be at 8 p.m. and the game will be televised on Comcast Sports Southeast. The game will be an All Auburn, All Orange event, with fans encouraged to wear orange for the contest.
