Former QB Craig returns to AU as WR coach

Former Auburn quarterback and Florida State QB coach Dameyune Craig has been named wide receivers coach by Gus Malzahn.

Craig played quarterback at Auburn from 1993-1997, redshirting for the undefeated 1993 team and starting for the 1997 SEC West champions. He played professionally in the NFL, CFL and NFL Europe.

His number 2 jersey from his time with the Scottish Claymores is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, commemorating his record-setting performance against Frankfurt in which he threw for a professional football record 611 yards.

Craig has spent the past three seasons at Florida State where he was the recruiting coordinator in addition to his QB coaching position. He helped the Seminoles land several high-profile recruits including beating out Auburn for a few big names, like Hueytown QB Jameis Winston.

Several reports surfaced in December saying Craig had turned down the Auburn job but Athletic Director Jay Jacobs confirmed on Thursday that he had been hired as the newest part of Malzahn's staff.
