A spirit that is not afraid

Auburn softball keeps going strong.

The softball team improved their record to 10-0 today after they rallied from deficits of three runs and two runs to claim an 8-5 win over Kansas Saturday afternoon at Jane B. Moore Field.

Kansas would get out to an early lead in the top of the first inning when Alex Hugo drove in Megan Hull for the one-point lead. The Jayhawks would make it 3-0 in the top of the third inning after pinch-hitter Taylor Hatfield laced a single to right sending in two runners.

The Tigers cut into the deficit with a two-out, solo home run by Branndi Melero in the bottom of the third inning. It was Melero's first home run of the season and it cleared the wall in right to make it a 3-1 game.

The Tigers would take the lead 5-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning and then cruise to an 8-5 victory over the Jayhawks.

Auburn will return to the field to play Bryant at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 17.
